Lighting the Masterpiece – GRODNO Illuminates Poland’s Only Van Gogh
"Stories of One Painting" is a special exhibition dedicated to the only Vincent van Gogh painting in a Polish collection—an extraordinary work by the Dutch post-impressionist master.
Held at the John Paul II and Stefan Wyszyński Museum in Wilanów, the exhibition is both a cultural landmark and a technical challenge: how to present a world-renowned piece of art with the respect, care, and clarity it deserves.
That’s where GRODNO came in.
Our Professional Lighting Division was responsible for the full lighting concept—designed to meet the strictest standards of museum-grade display while enhancing the viewer’s experience.
Precision Meets Preservation
The painting on display, “Country Cottages Among Trees,” is the sole Van Gogh held in Polish collections and will be exhibited until the end of 2024.
Exhibitions of the artist are taking place all over the world—so the opportunity to see his work in Poland is a rare and remarkable experience.
To ensure it’s presented at its best, GRODNO delivered a complete lighting solution:
-
The Van Gogh masterpiece was illuminated using a framing projector, allowing for sharp, artifact-free focus on the canvas
-
The surrounding exhibition space was lit with LED projectors featuring variable optics, providing adaptable, even lighting that flatters each display element
-
A tailored lighting plan balanced brightness, color rendering, and UV safety to meet conservation standards
-
An intelligent control system enabled precise scene adjustment and long-term efficiency
The Result
A space where light supports the story—not distracts from it.
Where technology quietly elevates the viewing experience, letting the art speak for itself.
